Today was the first day of the 2004 AFI Enhanced TV Workshop. The day was extraordinary for many reasons: better format, more networking and great presentations! We heard from Emmy Nominated, ABC's Enhanced TV head Rick Mandler about Miss America and Celebrity Mole Yucatan, David Watson from ABC Cable Networks did a fantastic presentation on Jetix Cards Live! (a great iTV application for kids), Joey Trotz from Turner Broadcasting showed us CNN Crossfire's iTV application. Davina Kent from TiVo showed off their interactive components and Michel McKenna did an informative presentation about Dish Networks offerings. 2003 Emmy Winner, Cablevision's IO was presented by Patrick Donohue.
There were several more great presentations. One, most notable, from Emma Sommerville, Head of iTV, BBC. Interactive Television in the US is about a lightyear behind the UK. But, it was nice to hear that they have very similar business issues to deal with - and a few technological ones too.
Remember to visit www.nyemmys.org and RSVP for next week's SMS/MMS seminar.
